Retailer overview
Burberry is the London-listed heritage house behind the gabardine trench coat, the check, and, for most of the 2010s, a tightly controlled no-discount image. It has been in a turnaround since Joshua Schulman took over as CEO in July 2024: revenue for the year ending March 2026 was ÂŁ2.42 billion, the store count is down to about 410 after closing 21 and opening 9, and the strategy is a refocus on outerwear and the trench. In the US, that means the classics are priced firmly (the Kensington Heritage trench is $2,850 in every length), and the seasonal collections are where the markdowns live.
For a stacker the useful thing about Burberry is that it takes card offers seriously. Amex has run the same $120-back-on-$600 offer at least four times since March 2024, Chase ran 10% back up to $140 in December 2023, and Bank of America showed 4% online in late 2025. That makes the card layer bigger than the portal layer, which is the opposite of most retailers on this site.
Cashback portal strategy
| Portal | Current rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Capital One Shopping | 3% (up from 2%) | Apparel and accessories. Excludes outlet products, gift cards, and orders over $5,500. |
| Rakuten | No Cash Back | Store page exists and links to us.burberry.com, but pays nothing as of September 16, 2026 (and was showing No Cash Back in August). |
| TopCashback | Not listed | Store page returns 404. |
Capital One Shopping is the portal today. Rakuten is the one to keep checking: a No Cash Back store is usually a paused affiliate relationship rather than a dead one, and we couldn’t verify what Rakuten paid before the pause, so we’re not quoting a base rate. Airline malls list Burberry too (Alaska’s shopping portal at 3 miles per dollar and AAdvantage eShopping at 2.5 as of mid-September), which beats 3% cash on a trench only if you value the miles above 1 cent (Alaska) or 1.2 cents (AAdvantage).
Two practical notes. The $5,500 cap on Capital One Shopping matters here: a two-trench order should be split into two transactions. And no portal pays on outlet stock, which isn’t sold on us.burberry.com anyway.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy
This is Burberry’s best layer. The live offer, from the Amex Offers tab on enrolled cards:
“Earn a one-time $120 statement credit after using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $600 in one or more qualifying purchases in-store at Burberry or online at us.burberry.com by 10/16/2026.”
Terms: US-issued Amex cards, one credit per card account, spend can be spread across purchases, credit posts within about 30 days (allow 90). Excludes gift cards, outlets, airport locations, department-store locations, and sample sales. Purchases must be made directly with Burberry, so a Burberry order at Nordstrom or Saks doesn’t count, but a portal click to us.burberry.com does. Returns reverse the credit.
The offer’s history on Burberry, from tracker records:
- $120 on $600, ending March 6, 2024
- $120 on $600, November 2, 2024 to January 31, 2025 (gift cards weren’t excluded that round)
- $120 on $600, spring 2025
- $120 on $600, November 13, 2025 to February 12, 2026 (gift cards excluded from here on)
- $120 on $600, seen mid-July 2026, expires October 16, 2026 (live)
It’s targeted, so check every Amex card in the household. Chase has had one Burberry offer that we could find (10% back up to $140, December 2023, direct purchases only); nothing on Chase for 2025 or 2026 surfaced. Bank of America cardholders saw a 4% online offer in late 2025, now expired.
Because these are statement credits, they stack with sale prices and with any portal. No card credit requires buying at a specific store, so there’s no fork to write here: click the portal, land on us.burberry.com, pay with the enrolled Amex.
Discount programs, outlets, and codes
There are no codes. Burberry issues no email-signup code, no student or military discount, no loyalty program, no referral scheme, and no published price-match or price-adjustment policy. The newsletter signup’s “exclusive discounts” language means early notice of the seasonal sale. Any site listing a “Burberry promo code” is either pointing at a reseller (Jomashop, Saks, Bloomingdale’s) or wasting your time. The upside is there’s nothing to void your portal cashback.
Outlets. Burberry runs ten US outlet stores, at Woodbury Common, Desert Hills, Livermore, Rosemont, Las Vegas North, Orlando, North Georgia, San Marcos, Houston, and Leesburg. Outlet stock is made-for-outlet and past-season, it isn’t sold online, and both the Amex Offer and Capital One Shopping exclude it. Treat outlets as a separate path: outlet price, no layers.
Resellers. Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdale’s, and Net-a-Porter carry Burberry and run their own sales and Friends & Family codes. Heritage houses are usually excluded from those codes, and the Amex Offer won’t pay on a reseller order. Where a reseller wins is markdowns: Saks and Nordstrom often discount Burberry seasonal pieces deeper than Burberry does. Compare on the day.
Best time of year to buy
Price direction only goes one way. The Kensington Heritage trench that forum members recorded at $2,490 in August 2022 is $2,850 today, about 14% higher, with earlier steps from around $1,800 in 2021. If the piece you want is heritage, waiting for a sale that won’t come while prices rise is the worst option. Buy it inside an Amex Offer window.
Common exclusions and fine print
- Rakuten pays nothing on Burberry today; confirm the rate on the store page before you click through
- Capital One Shopping excludes outlet products, gift cards, and orders over $5,500
- The Amex Offer excludes gift cards, outlets, airport and department-store locations, and sample sales, and requires buying direct
- Heritage trenches, cashmere scarves, and most check pieces are not included in seasonal sales
- 14 days to initiate a return, then 14 days to ship it; pierced jewelry, personalised items, and gift cards are final
- Online orders can be returned to mainline stores, not outlets
- Returns reverse both the Amex credit and the portal payout
Checkout sequence
- Check the Amex Offers tab on every Amex card. Enrol the Burberry offer on the card you'll use. It must be enrolled before you pay.
- Decide which track you're on. Heritage piece: buy now, inside the offer window. Seasonal piece: check whether the June or December sale is within a few weeks.
- Compare rakuten.com/shop/burberry and Capital One Shopping's Burberry page. Take whichever pays; today that's Capital One Shopping at 3%.
- Clean browser session, ad blockers off. Click through the portal to us.burberry.com.
- Build the cart. Keep it under $5,500 per order for the portal cap. Don't buy gift cards; they're excluded from both layers.
- Pay with the enrolled Amex. Spend can be split across orders, but the total needs to clear $600.
- Confirm the portal shows the order pending within a few days and the $120 credit posts within about 30. The return window closes at 28 days, so both should settle around the same time.
Long Kensington Heritage trench, $2,850 list
Seasonal piece instead: a $1,500 runway jacket at 30% off in the December sale is $1,050, minus $120 Amex (if the offer has renewed) and $31.50 portal, about $899, or 40% off. If Rakuten reactivates at a rate above 3%, swap it in for the portal line.
Get alerted when Rakuten turns Burberry back on or the Amex Offer renews.
Rakuten's Burberry page flips between a rate and No Cash Back without notice, and the Amex Offer has recurred roughly every quarter. We email the day either changes.
