Since the 2025 refresh the Reserve is a $795 card with a long list of credits and a simple rule underneath: anything booked through Chase Travel (The Edit, the $250 select-hotels credit, the 8x) never touches a cashback portal, and anything paid directly to a merchant does. That makes the Reserve unusually good on two pages here. The $300 StubHub credit pays on stubhub.com purchases that also track on Rakuten, and the $300 travel credit applies to any travel-coded charge, including Sixt and Vrbo through a portal. At fashion, home, tech, and beauty retailers it earns 1x, and Chase Offers for those merchants have been rare (Away in May, Mr Porter now).

The rule this page exists for

The Reserve’s credits split cleanly into two groups. Chase Travel credits (The Edit, the $250 select-hotels credit, the 8x) require booking through Chase’s own portal, which no cashback portal can reach. Direct credits (StubHub, the $300 travel credit, the dining credit) are triggered by paying a merchant, and a portal click on the way to that merchant still tracks.

That’s why StubHub is the Reserve’s best page here and Marriott is a fork.

Where the multipliers land

The Reserve earns 8x through Chase Travel and 4x on flights and hotels booked directly with the airline or hotel. There is no 3x “other travel” tier anymore, so Sixt and Vrbo earn 1x; the Preferred, oddly, earns more on both (2x and 3x). Fashion, home, tech, and beauty retailers are 1x.

The $300 travel credit

Applies automatically to the first $300 of travel-coded spend each cardmember year. Sixt, Vrbo, airlines, and hotels booked direct all qualify, and because it’s keyed to the merchant category and not the channel, a Sixt rental booked through Rakuten at 12% still absorbs it. The credited spend earns no points.

The Edit

Breakfast for two, a $100 property credit ($200 at “All-In” properties), upgrade and early or late checkout when available, 8x on the uncredited portion. $500 a year in two $250 halves, prepaid, two-night minimum. Chase Travel prices have run higher than direct at many Edit hotels (a 2026 review found 68 of 94 sampled), so check the rate before assuming the credit is free money.

Chase Offers at Stackable retailers

Rarer than Amex Offers at the merchants here. Seen in 2025 and 2026: Away ($200 on $500 for Reserve, May), Marriott (10% up to $50, quarterly, US hotels direct), Sixt (15% up to $76), Dyson (5% up to $50, December), Mr Porter ($100 on $500, live through November 9), Sephora (10% up to $12). Nothing found for Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman, Bergdorf, Bose, Sonos, Apple, Samsung, or the furniture and mattress brands.

Ultimate Rewards in 2026

1:1 to Aer Lingus, Aeroplan, Flying Blue, British Airways, Iberia, JetBlue, Singapore, Southwest, United, Virgin Atlantic, IHG, Marriott, Hyatt, and Wyndham. Points Boost replaced the fixed 1.5x redemption in October 2025. A reasonable value on the Reserve is 1.5 to 2 cents for holders who transfer to Hyatt or use boosted bookings, 1 cent otherwise.

FAQ

Does the StubHub credit really stack with Rakuten?
Yes, as of August 2026. The credit is triggered by a stubhub.com purchase on the activated card; Rakuten tracks the click to stubhub.com. Neither excludes the other. Buy on the website rather than the app so the portal click tracks.
What is Points Boost?
The replacement for the Reserve's old 1.5-cent redemption, since October 26, 2025. Points are worth 1 cent on Chase Travel by default and "up to 2x" on flagged hotels (The Edit included) and select airlines, though many Edit hotels have shown 1.65x since late 2025. Cardholders who held the Reserve before June 22, 2025 keep 1.5 cents on points earned before October 26, 2025 until October 2027.
The Edit or Amex FHR?
Same $100 property credit and breakfast. FHR guarantees 4pm checkout, works on one night, has more properties, and triggers a $300 credit; The Edit needs two nights, triggers $250, and earns 8x with Points Boost. Compare the rate at the property and how much credit you have left in each program.
Do Chase Offers stack with portals?
Yes. The terms say to pay the merchant directly, which excludes Amazon or an OTA, not a portal click. Chase Offers are targeted, one-time, must be added before purchase, and post as a statement credit within a cycle or two.
Which transfer partners matter for this site's airlines?
Virgin Atlantic transfers 1:1 from Ultimate Rewards. Qatar, Turkish, Alaska, and ITA are not Chase partners; Qatar Qsuites are bookable with British Airways Avios (1:1), Turkish business through United or Aeroplan. Hyatt stays 1:1 on the Reserve (it dropped to 4:3 on the Preferred).
