Three things about Dyson changed since we last verified this page, and all three cut against the old advice. Rakuten's base rate is now 1%, with short windows at 10-12% (last seen September 6 and 15; back at 1% on September 16), which makes Capital One Shopping's 3% the best portal today. Rakuten and TopCashback both exclude refurbished items, so the old 'portal on top of refurb' stack is gone. And the Dyson Certified Refurbished warranty is six months on vacuums, not two years. What's still true: Dyson's refurbished prices are deep ($349.99 for a V15 Detect Total Clean Extra against $849.99 new), Owner Rewards gives registered owners 20% off a second machine, and the sale calendar is predictable. The play now is a new machine through Capital One Shopping at 3% (or Rakuten if a window reopens), or refurbished with eyes open about the warranty.

Retailer overview

Dyson is the British engineering company behind premium cordless vacuums, hair tools, and air purifiers, sold direct at dyson.com and through Best Buy, Target, and Sephora. It controls pricing tightly and concentrates discounting into named windows and its own Certified Refurbished store.

2025 and 2026 were rough for Dyson in the US. Tariffs on its Malaysian-made products pushed a July 2025 price increase across the range, and the company reported a £440 million sales drop for 2025. The product side kept moving: the V16 Piston Animal launched in July 2026 at $979.99 as the new flagship, and the fall 2026 lineup added the R1 and R2 robot vacuums and the Camerajet toothbrush (both excluded from Rakuten cashback).

The Rakuten rate is the whole question. At its 1% base (where it sits on September 16), Capital One Shopping’s 3% is the best click on a new machine, and refurbished is still the price floor. At 10-12%, a new machine through Rakuten beats most of Dyson’s own sale pricing. Windows have appeared without announcement (September 6 and 15, 2026 both observed, closed by September 16), so activate Rakuten, read the store page, and decide based on the number in front of you.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

Amex Offers on Dyson have appeared about once a year: 2% back up to $250 (2024) and 4% back up to $250 (expired June 30, 2025). Nothing in 2026 so far; no Chase Offer found. Dyson codes as electronics or housewares, so no travel-card bonus. Use a card with extended warranty; on a refurbished machine with six months of coverage, a card that adds a year is worth more than the points.

Dyson’s outlet at dyson.com/outlet sells factory-refurbished machines at 40-60% off:

What's the real Rakuten rate on Dyson?
The base is 1%, and that's what the store page reads on September 16, 2026. On September 15 it showed "10% online, was 1%" in one session, and a third-party tracker logged 12% on September 6. Dyson gets short elevated windows, not a steady rate. When Rakuten is at base, Capital One Shopping's 3% is the better click. Activate and read the number before you click through; the difference between 1% and 10% on a $850 machine is $76.
Does Rakuten pay on refurbished?
No. Rakuten's Dyson terms exclude refurbished items, spare parts, replacement parts, and accessories, plus the Camerajet toothbrush and the robot vacuums, and orders over ten units. TopCashback excludes select refurbished products. Earlier versions of this page said the portal tracked on refurb; that's no longer the case.
What warranty does refurbished carry?
Six months on vacuums, purifiers, fans, and heaters; one year on hair care. Not the two years new machines get. Earlier versions of this page said two years, which was wrong. Factor a shorter warranty into a 60% discount; on a $349.99 V15 it's still a good trade for most buyers.
Is there a Dyson Amex Offer?
Not in 2026. Amex ran 2% back up to $250 in 2024 and 4% back up to $250 through June 30, 2025. No Chase Offer found. Check the Offers tab before a $500+ purchase, but don't wait for one.
What is Owner Rewards?
A one-time 20% off selected machines for registered Dyson owners, delivered as a code. It's not listed on either portal, so using it voids cashback. On a second machine, 20% beats any portal window; take the code and skip the click.
Did Dyson raise prices?
Yes. Dyson raised US prices on all products effective July 25, 2025, citing global economic conditions, and reported a large 2025 sales drop tied to US tariffs on Malaysian-made units. The V16 Piston Animal launched in July 2026 at $979.99 as the new flagship above the V15 and Gen5; it's $849.99 on dyson.com today.
