Mr Porter changed hands in 2025 (Mytheresa's parent, now LuxExperience, bought YNAP from Richemont) and the portal layer changed with it: Rakuten dropped from 8% to 2%, and TopCashback moved to a tiered rate that pays 7% only to new customers spending $350 or more. What replaced the portal is the card layer. A $100-back-on-$500 Amex Offer and a matching Chase Offer are both live through November 8 and 9, and because they're statement credits they stack with the 10% newsletter code and whatever portal you use. On a $1,200 first order the stack still clears 20%, but only while those offers last.

The 30-second answer

The best current Mr Porter stack

Rates read from each portal's mrporter.com store page. Card offers are targeted; check your Offers tabs.

  • Amex Offer
$100 back on $500+, expires November 8, 2026; a matching Chase Offer expires November 9
    $100
  • New-customer code
10% off a first order via newsletter signup; excludes sale, fine watches, Tom Ford, Cucinelli, Gucci
    10% off
  • TopCashback
7% new customers $350+; 5% new under $350; 4% existing; 2% markdowns; voids on unlisted codes
    4-7%
  • Rakuten cashback
Down from 8% in May; no "was" rate shown
    2%
$1,200 first order, full price, with a card offer
~$242-$296 (20-25%)
Without a card offer, the same order returns about $142 (12%), not the 18-20% this page claimed in May. The portal collapse is real; the card offers are carrying the stack.

Retailer overview

Mr Porter is the luxury menswear site launched in 2011 as the male counterpart to Net-a-Porter. Both were owned by Richemont’s Yoox Net-a-Porter group until April 24, 2025, when Mytheresa completed its purchase of YNAP and renamed the combined company LuxExperience B.V. (NYSE: LUXE); Richemont kept a 33% stake. The Outnet, YNAP’s off-price arm, was sold separately to a US operator in April 2026 and is no longer part of the group.

For a stacker, the ownership change mattered more than it might seem. Under Richemont, Mr Porter ran one of the most generous affiliate programs in luxury, which showed up as 6-12% Rakuten rates. Under LuxExperience, the rates reset to the 2-4% that’s normal for the category. What Mr Porter still has is a willingness to run card-linked offers, and right now that’s the layer doing the work.

Cashback portal strategy

Portal New customer Existing customer Notes
TopCashback 7% ($350+), 5% under $350 4% 3% watches and sale, 2% markdowns, 1% Nike/adidas/New Balance. Unlisted codes void cashback.
Rakuten 2% 2% No “was” rate. Long brand exclusion list (see FAQ). US site only.

TopCashback leads for a first order; Rakuten and TopCashback are close for repeat customers (2% vs 4%). Both portals pay a reduced rate on sale merchandise, which is a change from the old “8% on sale prices” era. Compare on the day; the tiers move.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

This is now the strongest layer at Mr Porter.

  • Amex Offer: $100 back on $500+, live, expires November 8, 2026. A prior $100-on-$500 ran through November 2025.
  • Chase Offer: $100 back on $500+, live, expires November 9, 2026. A prior one expired May 18, 2026.

Both are statement credits, so they stack with the 10% code, either portal, and sale prices. Both are targeted; check every Amex and Chase card you hold. Mr Porter codes as department store or apparel, so no travel-card category bonus applies; pay with whichever card carries the offer.

The Amex Platinum's Saks credit ended July 1, 2026, and never applied at Mr Porter anyway. If a guide still tells you to use it here, it's out of date.

Codes, loyalty, and referral

New-customer code. 10% off a first order, delivered after newsletter signup. Aggregators list exclusions of sale items, fine watches, grooming, Tom Ford, Brunello Cucinelli, and Gucci; the minimum spend is unverified (Mr Porter’s help pages wouldn’t load). Not listed on either portal, so pairing it with cashback is a tracking risk.

MR PORTER Rewards. Silver, Gold, Platinum, and EIP tiers by annual spend. Free shipping from Silver up. Perks, not points.

Referral. None found.

Common exclusions

  • Rakuten pays nothing on luxury watches, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Prada, Brioni, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Celine Homme, Fear of God, Gucci, Nike, adidas, New Balance, On, or The Row
  • TopCashback drops to 3% on watches and sale, 2% on markdowns, 1% on Nike, adidas, and New Balance
  • Unlisted codes void TopCashback cashback and may void Rakuten
  • The 10% code excludes sale, fine watches, grooming, and several brands
  • Final Sale items are non-returnable; 28-day returns otherwise
  • Free standard US shipping at $400+, or at Silver Rewards tier

Checkout sequence

  1. Check Amex Offers and Chase Offers on every card. Add any Mr Porter offer you find.
  2. New customer? Sign up for the newsletter and wait for the 10% code. Check that your brand isn't excluded from it.
  3. Decide code vs. portal. Under $1,400, the code wins; use it and treat any cashback as a bonus. Over that, run both numbers.
  4. Clean browser session, ad blockers off. Activate TopCashback (first order) or Rakuten (repeat) and click through.
  5. Build the cart. Apply the code at checkout if you're using it.
  6. Pay with the card holding the offer; the spend must clear $500 in one transaction.
  7. Confirm the portal shows the order pending within 48 hours.
Worked example

$1,200 first order, full price, non-excluded brand

10% newsletter code$120.00
Amex or Chase Offer ($500+ spend)$100.00
Rakuten 2% on $1,080 (confirmed with a code)$21.60
TopCashback 7% instead, if it tracks with the codeup to $75.60
Total saved$242 to $296 (20-25%)

Without a card offer: $142 (12%). In May this page claimed $216 to $240 on the same order; the difference is the portal reset.

The $100 offers expire in early November. We email when they renew, when the winter sale opens, and if Rakuten or TopCashback moves above 8%.

FAQ

What happened to the 8% Rakuten rate?
It's gone. Rakuten's mrporter.com page shows 2% as of September 15, 2026 with no "was" rate. The drop coincides with the April 2025 sale of YNAP (Mr Porter, Net-a-Porter) to Mytheresa's parent company, renamed LuxExperience, which appears to have reset the affiliate program. TopCashback is now the lead portal, but only for new customers.
Can I use the 10% code and still get cashback?
On Rakuten, maybe: its terms say unlisted codes may void cashback and it lists no Mr Porter codes. On TopCashback, its terms say a code not shown on its page voids cashback, and it lists none. So treat the 7% as unconfirmed if you use the code. The code is worth more than either portal on any order under $1,400, so if you have to pick, pick the code.
Do the Amex and Chase offers stack with everything?
Yes. Both are statement credits triggered by spending $500 or more on the card, not codes, so they apply on top of the 10% code, the portal, and sale prices. Add the offer to your card first. They're targeted; not every cardholder has them.
Which brands are excluded from cashback?
Rakuten excludes luxury watches, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Prada, Brioni, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Celine Homme, Fear of God, Gucci, Nike, adidas, New Balance, On, and The Row. TopCashback pays 3% on watches and 1% on Nike, adidas, and New Balance. If you're buying one of those, the portal line is zero; the code and card offer still apply.
Is there a Mr Porter loyalty program?
Yes, MR PORTER Rewards, with Silver, Gold, Platinum, and EIP tiers by annual spend. Silver and up get free shipping. It's a perks program, not points, so there's nothing to stack, but free shipping on a $400+ order is worth signing up for.
What's the return window?
28 days from receipt. Final Sale items at deep markdowns are non-returnable. Free standard US shipping now starts at $400, up from $300.
