The best way to buy a Casper mattress in 2026

Retailer overview

Casper is the brand that made “bed in a box” a category in 2014, went public in 2020, was taken private in 2022, and was bought by Carpenter Co., a Virginia polyurethane-foam manufacturer, in October 2024. Under Carpenter it has renamed the lineup and gone back to spending on marketing. The 2026 range is The One and Cloud One (all-foam, $1,149 and $1,374 queen list), the Dream and Dream Max hybrids ($1,995 queen for the Dream), the Snow and Snow Max cooling hybrids, and the budget Snug. The Original, Original Hybrid, and Element names are discontinued; when you see them at a dealer or on a coupon site, it’s old stock.

Casper sells through casper.com, 41 of its own stores, Costco (a Costco-exclusive model, see below), Target, and regional chains such as Sit ’n Sleep and P.C. Richard. List prices moved up in early 2026: The One queen was $999 at Black Friday 2025 and is $1,149 today, and the Dream went from $1,895 to $1,995. Because the sale is a percentage, the sale price moved up with it.

Tempur-Pedic sits at list between windows. Saatva is always on sale in dollar tiers. Casper is always on sale in percentage tiers so consistent that timing matters less here than at either competitor; which layer you pick and which channel you buy from matter more.

Cashback portal strategy

Rakuten showed 2% at Memorial Day 2026 and shows 2% today; we saw no spike on Rakuten or Capital One Shopping in the period we could verify, including Black Friday week 2025. BeFrugal’s history shows a 20% at some point, so check it if you have an account, but don’t delay a purchase for one. The 2% applies only on casper.com, and the payout is slow: Rakuten holds mattress cashback until the trial is over, and a return zeroes it.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

Nothing. We could not find a Casper Amex Offer or Chase Offer for 2025 or 2026 on the offer trackers or in the r/amex and r/CreditCards archives we searched. Mattress brands do land on Amex Offers occasionally (Saatva had one in 2022, Tempur-Pedic one undated), so check the Offers tab before a $1,000+ order, but don’t plan around it.

Financing. Casper’s terms name Affirm and Katapult (lease-to-own) as payment options “as detailed on the payment screen.” We couldn’t verify the current APR or term lengths. Financing is a payment method, not a promotion, so it shouldn’t affect portal tracking, but you forgo card rewards and purchase protection. On a $1,395 Dream the rewards you give up on a 2% card are about $28, the same as the Rakuten payout.

Absent an offer, pay with a card that carries purchase protection.

The sale tiers

Every Casper discount applies automatically in the cart. The promo page lists one named sale at a time, and the structure barely changes. Labor Day 2026 (August 18 to September 15) is representative:

• The One and Cloud One: 20% off ($899 and $1,099 queen)
• Dream, Snow, Dream Max, Snow Max: 30% off (Dream queen $1,395, Snow king $2,445)
• Bundles (mattress plus foundation and protector): 35% off
• Snug: $100 off; QuickCool cover add-on: $51 off
• Pillows: 10% for one, 20% for two or more; frames, sheets, protectors, duvets: 10%
• Excluded: Final Sale, clearance, Nap Pillow, the discontinued Original, Original Hybrid, and Element, digital gift cards. “Cannot be combined with another offer.”

The same “up to 30% on mattresses, 35% on everything else” copy ran at Memorial Day (May 25) and July 4 (June 18 to July 14). Back-to-School (July 25 to August 16) dipped to “up to 25%.” The only deeper mattress pricing we found in 2025 or 2026 was 35% on the Snow Max and Dream Max at Presidents’ Day 2025 and 40% on the 2025 Essential in August 2026, a closeout.

Coupon sites list codes like EXTRA10 and AEXCL35. Casper’s promo page lists no codes, Rakuten lists none, and the sale terms bar combining offers. Treat them as unverified; entering one risks the cashback for a discount that probably won’t apply.

Referral, ID.me, and clearance

Referral (30% off). A past customer shares a link; a first-time customer gets 30% off, and the referrer gets a $75 Amazon gift card per qualifying purchase. It excludes bundles, Final Sale, clearance, the Nap Pillow, the Original, Original Hybrid, Element, and Snug, and it “does not stack.” It’s a code, so assume it voids Rakuten. The math: on The One queen ($1,149), referral is $804 versus $881 with the 20% sale plus 2% cashback, a $77 edge for the referral. On the Dream queen ($1,995), referral is $1,397 versus $1,367 with the 30% sale plus cashback, a $30 edge for the sale. Referral for the entry models, sale plus Rakuten for the hybrids.

ID.me 5%. Verified teachers, students, military, and healthcare workers get 5% off everything, listed on the promo page as a separate community discount. We couldn’t confirm whether it applies on top of the sale; the sale’s “cannot be combined” language suggests not. At 5% it’s less than the sale on any mattress, so it only matters on accessories outside a sale.

Clearance and Final Sale. Adjustable bases at 30% off, bedding up to 75% off. No trial, no return, no exchange except for defects. Capital One Shopping excludes clearance from cashback; Rakuten doesn’t say.

Not found: an email-signup discount (signup promises “subscriber exclusive discounts” but no stated amount), a loyalty program, a price-match or price-adjustment policy, an outlet channel on the current site (returned mattresses are donated or recycled).

Costco, Target, and the direct-only distinction

Costco’s Casper is the Casper Select, an all-foam model sold only at Costco ($649.99 queen as of June 2026, membership required). It’s not on casper.com, it has an extra memory-foam layer the direct models don’t, and it’s covered by Costco’s return policy, not Casper’s 100-night trial. No cashback portal we checked pays on Costco. It isn’t the mattress this page is about.

Target carries some casper.com models at the same sale prices. A Target purchase earns Target’s portal rate, if any, and follows Target’s return policy; Casper’s trial applies only to casper.com orders. There’s no card credit at Casper that forces the direct site, so this isn’t a fork with card math. It’s a return-policy choice. Buy direct if you might return it.

Best time of year to buy

Black Friday 2026 is November 27. Expect the 30% tier to be live from early November, “Cyber Week” copy from the weekend, and a one-day bundle flash on Cyber Monday (November 30). If you want a bundle, that flash is the only date on the calendar that’s meaningfully better than any other; if you want a mattress alone, the 30% you see in September is the 30% you’ll see in November. The list-price increase in early 2026 means the Black Friday 2025 prices won’t come back on the same models.

Common exclusions and fine print

• Sale, referral, and ID.me are one-at-a-time; only portal cashback layers on the sale, and not on the referral
• Unlisted codes void Rakuten cashback; the referral is a code
• Referral is new customers only, excludes bundles and the Snug, Original, Original Hybrid, and Element
• Cashback is on the discounted price excluding tax; mattress cashback is held until the 100-night trial ends

• Furniture, dog beds, Glow lights: 30-day trial; non-Casper items must be returned unopened within 30 days
• Costco and Target purchases follow those stores’ return policies, not Casper’s trial

• 10-year mattress warranty; adjustable bases and bundle accessories carry shorter terms

Checkout sequence

1. Check casper.com/pages/promo. Confirm your model is at its tier: 20% for The One and Cloud One, 30% for Dream, Snow, and the Max models. If a named sale just ended, the next one is usually days away.
2. Decide on the referral. Want The One or Cloud One and have a past customer's link? Use it, take the 30%, skip Rakuten. Want a Dream or Snow? Skip the referral; the sale ties it and Rakuten adds 2%.
3. Rakuten path: clean browser session, ad blockers off, activate Rakuten (or Capital One Shopping) and click through to casper.com. Referral path: click the referral link instead.
4. Build the cart on casper.com, not Costco or Target, if you want the 100-night trial. The sale applies automatically. Don't enter a coupon-site code. Consider the bundle if you need a foundation; it's 35% off versus 10% on a frame bought separately.
5. Check Amex and Chase Offers before paying. Pay with a card that has purchase protection, or Affirm if 0% matters more.
6. Rakuten path: confirm the order shows pending within 48 hours. The payout lands after night 100.
