The best way to buy a Peloton in 2026

Retailer overview

Peloton sells connected fitness hardware and the subscription that makes it work. The current lineup is the Cross Training series launched October 1, 2025: Bike ($1,695), Bike+ ($2,695), Tread ($3,295), Tread+ ($6,695), and Row+ ($3,495), each $200 to $700 above the model it replaced. The All-Access membership went from $44 to $49.99 a month at the same time, the first increase since 2022. Refurbished Original Bikes and Bike+ stay on sale as the entry point, and there’s a rental program at $124.99 a month for the Bike+.

Two other 2025 changes matter for the math. Expert assembly, which used to be included, is now $150 ($299 on the Tread+), with free self-assembly delivery on some products. And the 30-day home trial now deducts a $150 to $250 return fee. Peloton discounts hardware on a predictable calendar, and the discounts have mostly gotten deeper since the price increase, so the list price is closer to a ceiling than a price.

Cashback portal strategy

2% is what Rakuten has shown for onepeloton.com in the period we could check; there’s no “was” rate on the page. The terms name Bikes and Treads specifically, so we’d expect it to track on refurbished Bike orders (only Repowered, the peer-to-peer used marketplace, is excluded by name), but we haven’t confirmed a tracked refurbished order. Rakuten is silent on Affirm financing. The membership is not covered by any portal.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

Peloton is a Chase merchant, not an Amex one. Peloton’s own pages set out the terms:

• Chase Sapphire Reserve: 10x total points on Peloton equipment and accessory orders over $150, capped at 50,000 points, through December 31, 2027. Plus $10 a month in statement credits toward an All-Access, Rental, App+, App One, or Strength+ membership, up to $120 a calendar year, after activating the benefit in the Chase app. Memberships must be bought directly from Peloton, not through an app store.
• Chase Sapphire Preferred: 5x on the same equipment, capped at 25,000 points. Doctor of Credit reported a $60 a year membership credit on the Preferred when the partnership launched; we couldn’t verify it on the current Preferred page.
• Both: direct purchases only (website, phone, showroom). Affirm-financed orders and Truemed orders don’t earn the bonus. Apparel, memberships, and gift cards don’t count toward it. Points post 6 to 8 weeks after the charge.

At a Black Friday Bike+ price of $1,995, 10x is 19,950 Ultimate Rewards points, about $200 at a cent each and more through the travel portal. That’s the single biggest non-sale layer on this page, and it’s the reason to buy direct instead of at Amazon.

Chase Offers. August 2026: 100% back on your first paid month of an App+, App One, or Strength+ membership. It excludes All-Access and prepaid annual plans, so it’s an app-only play.

Amex. The only Amex Offer we found was $12 back on a $12 membership charge, limit two, expired January 31, 2024. Nothing on hardware in 2025 or 2026. The Amex Platinum has never had a Peloton credit; its fitness credit is Equinox. If you’re deciding between a Platinum and a Reserve for this purchase, the Reserve wins by roughly 19,950 points.

Referral and discount programs

Referral. A member’s personal link takes $250 off a Cross Training Bike, $500 off a Bike+, $300 off a Tread, $600 off a Tread+, and $300 off a Row+, with $150 to $350 off refurbished Original Bikes. The discount applies automatically in the cart, so it’s a link, not a code, and the Rakuten unlisted-code rule shouldn’t bite. The referrer gets one free month of All-Access, capped at four referrals a calendar year since January 2026 (down from six, and the reward was a $100 apparel credit until October 2025). Peloton boosted referrals to $400 off the Bike and $900 off the Bike+ from April 9 to 21, 2026, matching its launch pricing. Read that as an alternative to a sale, not an addition; we found no case of the two combining.

Special Pricing (ID.me). Verified military, veterans, teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, government employees, seniors 65+, and nonprofit employees get the same hardware amounts as referral ($250 Bike, $500 Bike+, $300 Tread, $600 Tread+, $300 Row+, $150 to $350 refurbished) and app memberships from $9.99 a month. Students get app pricing only ($6.99 a month for App One). ID.me’s terms: “Cannot be combined with other offers, referral codes, or other discounts.”

Financing. Affirm at 0% APR for 12 months ($141.25 a month on the Bike, $224.58 on the Bike+). It costs nothing in interest and everything in Chase points; pay in full if you hold a Sapphire.

Truemed (HSA/FSA). Pre-tax dollars on new Bike, Bike+, Tread, Tread+, and Row+ orders. Not rentals, not refurbished, and it forfeits the Chase multiplier.

Not found: an email-signup discount with a dollar value, a price-match or price-adjustment policy.

Best time of year to buy

Product cadence: the Cross Training series launched October 1, 2025 with $200 to $1,200 launch discounts for existing members, and Peloton said in August 2026 that members will get substantial discounts on upcoming new products. If a new device is coming, the outgoing one usually gets its deepest cut at the following Black Friday.

Common exclusions and fine print

• Sale, referral, and ID.me pricing are one-at-a-time; only the Chase multiplier and Rakuten layer on top
• Rakuten pays on Bikes and Treads only, not Row+, rentals, Repowered, apparel, or the membership
• Chase 10x and 5x are direct-only, over $150, and exclude Affirm and Truemed orders
• Expert assembly $150 ($299 Tread+), non-refundable; self-assembly is free but not on every product
• 30-day home trial from delivery, first-time buyers, contiguous US only, minus a $150 (bikes) or $250 (Tread, Tread+, Row+) return fee
• Refurbished is final sale with no trial
• All-Access $49.99 a month is required for the hardware and has no portal layer

Checkout sequence

1. Wait for a direct sale (Black Friday, New Year, Labor Day, or a summer bike sale). Between sales, use a member's referral link or ID.me instead; they're worth about what a sale is worth and don't combine with one.
2. Activate the Peloton benefit on your Sapphire Reserve or Preferred in the Chase app so the membership credit is live.
3. Clean browser session, ad blockers off. Activate Rakuten and click through to onepeloton.com. Don't detour to Amazon or Dick's; equal price, no multiplier, no portal.
4. Build the cart at the sale price. Choose self-assembly if it's offered for your device and you're able; it's $150 back.
5. Pay in full on the Sapphire. Don't pick Affirm or Truemed if you want the points.
6. Confirm Rakuten shows the order pending within 48 hours. Chase points post in 6 to 8 weeks.
