Design Within Reach is MillerKnoll’s multi-brand retail arm: Herman Miller and Knoll classics alongside HAY, Muuto, GUBI, and the Eames and Saarinen pieces most people picture when they hear “mid-century modern.” It sells online, through about 40 studios, and through three outlets.

DWR discounts constantly. A third-party sale tracker logged promotions on 65 of 84 days between June and September 2026, cycling through a Summer Sale, a July 4 sale, an Outdoor sale, a Buy More Save More event, and now the Semiannual Sale. The headline rate is usually 20% to 25%, and the strategy is less about waiting for a window than about catching the window that includes your brand.

No “was” rate on Rakuten and no verifiable spike in 2025 or 2026. Plan on 2%, paid on the post-sale price.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

Nothing current. The last verified Amex Offer for DWR was $50 on $250 in 2016. A Citi Merchant Offer at 3% in-store ran around late 2024 and expired. No Chase Offer surfaced.

DWR codes as furniture or home furnishings. Pay with your best flat-return card, ideally one with purchase protection and extended warranty on a $3,000 chair.

Trade program

DWR’s trade program gives design professionals 20% off full-price items across the DWR, Herman Miller, and Knoll assortment with no minimum. It excludes sale, outlet, and floor-sample items and can’t be combined with any other promotion.

The practical read: trade is a floor, not a stack. Between sales it’s the best available price. During a 25% sale it loses. For a piece that’s excluded from the current sale (which happens often with Knoll), trade at 20% may be the only discount on the table.
