The best way to buy Monos luggage in 2026

Retailer overview

Monos is a Vancouver-based direct-to-consumer luggage brand founded in 2018. Its polycarbonate Classic line runs $275 (Carry-On) to $390 (Check-In Large), with the Carry-On Pro at $295, the Hybrid Carry-On at $355, and the Aluminum Carry-On at $695. It also sells the Metro line of bags ($215 to $275), packing cubes, and, since 2025, sunglasses.

Monos competes head-on with Away at almost identical price points, and the two brands discount on the same calendar. The difference for a stacker is structural: Away is on Rakuten and has landed Chase Offers, Monos is on neither. In exchange, Monos’ sales go deeper (up to 40% at Black Friday in 2023 and 2024) and its bundle pricing is more generous ($100 off any two pieces, all year).

Cashback portal strategy

Rakuten’s brand page for Monos does list the neighbors: Away, Tumi, and Calpak at 2% to 2.5%. If a portal rate matters to you more than the brand, that’s the comparison. CashbackMonitor shows one listing for Monos, Rove Miles at 3.3 miles per dollar, which we couldn’t verify and which pays in a travel-portal currency rather than cash.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

Nothing. We searched Doctor of Credit, Frequent Miler, The Points Guy, and r/amex for Monos Amex Offers and Chase Offers in 2025 and 2026 and found none. Away’s May Chase Offer ($100 to $200 back) has no Monos equivalent.

Monos codes as a general retail merchant, not travel, so it won’t trigger a travel multiplier. Pay with a 2% card or one with purchase protection, since the $25 return fee makes a damaged-in-transit claim worth having on the card. Amex Platinum cardholders should still check the Offers tab before buying; luggage brands do rotate through and Monos has the profile that gets targeted.

Set pricing and the sale calendar

Set pricing (automatic). The luggage-sets page lists $100 off any two or more pieces from the Classic and Expandable collections and $20 off any Hybrid or Aluminum combination. Named sets: Carry-On Set $410 (from $510), Check-In Set $555 (from $655), Carry-On and Check-In Set $895 (from $995), Hybrid Set $960 (from $980), Aluminum Set $1,734 (from $1,754). The discount applies in the cart without a code.

Current sale. 15% off best-selling luggage and bags as of September 15: Carry-On $234, Carry-On Pro $251, Carry-On Pro Plus $268, Check-In Medium $293, Check-In Large $332, Metro Backpack $183. Orders over $150 get a free gift selected at checkout. Buy one pair of sunglasses, 50% off the second.

Whether 15% and the set discount combine is something we couldn’t verify. The sale collection lists single pieces; the sets page shows set pricing at list. If you’re buying two pieces, build the cart both ways and take the lower number.

Referral, rewards, and other discounts

Referral. Aggregator listings show $20 off a first order of $200 or more for the referred friend and $20 for the referrer; one aggregator says $25 with no minimum. We couldn’t find the terms on monos.com itself. It’s a code, so expect it to replace rather than join a sale code.

Wayfarer Rewards. Monos’ loyalty program, built on Smile.io, earns points on purchases and referrals and redeems at 100 points for $5. Two VIP tiers add early access and member-only deals. Monos doesn’t publish the earn rate on the pages we could reach, so we can’t put a percentage on it; treat it as a small rebate on the second purchase, not a layer on the first.

Email signup. The homepage has a newsletter prompt with no discount attached. Coupon sites list a “5% off” code with no source; we couldn’t verify it.

Not found: an ID.me or military discount, a student discount, a price-adjustment policy, a refurbished or open-box store. Monos has no equivalent to Away Reclaimed.

Best time of year to buy

Between windows Monos usually keeps something at 15% off, which is where it sits today. The floor for a Carry-On on monos.com in the last three years has been about $195 to $206, set at Black Friday.

Common exclusions and fine print

• One code per order; sale codes auto-apply, so a referral code would need to replace them
• Set pricing is automatic but we couldn’t confirm it combines with percentage sales
• $25 return shipping fee deducted from every refund; items must be unused in original packaging with photo proof
• 100-day trial on luggage, 30 days on bags and accessories, 30 days on sunglasses
• Lifetime warranty covers wheels, handles, and locks only; airline damage, zippers, and cosmetic wear excluded
• Free standard shipping at $100 in the contiguous US and Canada
• No portal, so no tracking rules to worry about, but also nothing to claw back

Checkout sequence

1. Check the Amex Offers tab on every Amex card and the Chase Offers tab on every Chase card. Nothing has surfaced for Monos in 2025 or 2026, but it takes a minute.
2. Decide on timing. If a Black Friday or holiday window is within six weeks, wait; the gap between 15% and 25-40% is $30 to $110 per piece.
3. If you need two pieces, build the cart as a set and confirm the $100 (Classic/Expandable) or $20 (Hybrid/Aluminum) shows in the cart.
4. If it's your first order and there's no sale, use a referral link for $20 off $200. In a sale, skip it.
5. Create a Wayfarer Rewards account before paying so the order earns points.
