Nordstrom's stack got thinner after the family took the company private in May 2025. Rakuten now shows no cash back for nordstrom.com, TopCashback pays 2.4%, and Nordstrom Rack stopped earning Nordy Club points. What Nordstrom still has: a recurring Amex Offer (currently $50 back on $200 through December 31, Platinum cardholders), a loyalty program that pays 1 to 3 points per dollar depending on tier and card, and the most predictable sale calendar in luxury retail. Year-round the stack is 5 to 16% depending on which card you hold. The Anniversary Sale in July is where it clears 25% and up.

Retailer overview

Nordstrom is the largest US-based luxury department store, founded in Seattle in 1901 and, since May 2025, privately owned by the Nordstrom family with Mexico’s El Puerto de Liverpool. Its moat is service (free shipping both ways, alterations, personal stylists), not pricing, and its discounting is concentrated in a handful of named windows.

For a stacker, the year since the take-private has removed two layers (Rakuten, and Nordy Club points at Rack) and left the card offers and the calendar. It’s still one of the more predictable luxury retailers to plan around.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

Amex Offers on Nordstrom recur two or three times a year and are the best layer right now:

  • Live: $50 back on $200+, through December 31, 2026, Platinum and Centurion cardholders (targeted), excludes Rack.
  • 2026 earlier: $15 on $80, $20 on $120, $40 on $400, $50 on $500, all expired June 30.
  • 2025: $50 on $300 (NYC flagship), $30 on $150, $35 on $350.

These are statement credits, so they stack with TopCashback, Nordy Club points, and sale pricing. No Chase Offer for Nordstrom surfaced.

The Nordstrom Visa (TD Bank, $0 annual fee) earns Nordy Club points rather than cash: 2 points per dollar at Nordstrom for Influencers, 3 for Ambassadors and Icons, 2 on gas, grocery, dining, and streaming, 1 elsewhere. That’s an effective 2 to 3% at Nordstrom, plus early Anniversary access and Icon eligibility. New cardmembers get $40 off a first purchase. Worth it above roughly $1,500 a year of Nordstrom spend; not worth carrying otherwise.

Nordy Club loyalty program

Free. 1 point per dollar with any tender, 2 or 3 with the Nordstrom card by tier. 1,000 points = $10 Note (Ambassador and Icon receive $20 Notes per 2,000). Tiers by annual spend: Member, Influencer at $500, Ambassador at $5,000, Icon at $15,000 (card required). Perks climb through free alterations, early Anniversary access, and a personal shopper. Rack purchases no longer earn.

  • Rakuten pays nothing today; TopCashback voids on unlisted codes and excludes gift cards

  • Anniversary Sale prices are temporary markdowns; cashback applies to the sale price
  • Some designer collaborations are excluded from sale events

Checkout sequence

  1. Check Amex Offers on every Amex card for the $50-on-$200 Nordstrom offer. Add it.
  2. Check the calendar. Black Friday within six weeks and the item isn't urgent? Wait.
  3. Clean browser session, ad blockers off. Activate TopCashback and click through to nordstrom.com.
  4. Sign into Nordy Club before checkout.
  5. Pay with the Amex holding the offer if you have it (1 pt/$ in Nordy Club plus $50 back). Otherwise the Nordstrom card (2-3 pts/$).
  6. Confirm TopCashback shows the order pending within 48 hours.

FAQ

Is Nordstrom on Rakuten?
Not as of September 15, 2026. Rakuten's nordstrom.com page reads "No Cash Back," and Rakuten is absent from CashbackMonitor's Nordstrom listing. TopCashback still pays 2.4% on item price. We'll update this if Rakuten relists the store.
How does the Nordstrom card actually earn?
In points, not cash. Earlier versions of this page described a "3% back" card; that framing was wrong. The Nordstrom Visa (TD Bank, no annual fee) earns 2 points per dollar at Nordstrom for Influencer-tier members and 3 for Ambassador and Icon, plus 2 points on gas, grocery, dining, and streaming, and 1 elsewhere. Points convert to Notes at $10 per 1,000 ($20 per 2,000 at Ambassador and Icon). Effective return at Nordstrom: 2 to 3%. New cardmembers currently get $40 off a first purchase.
Do Nordy Club points stack with a portal?
Yes. Points are earned on the account at checkout; the portal tracks the click. Neither sees the other. You can also stack a card-linked Amex Offer on top of both, since it's a statement credit.
When was the 2026 Anniversary Sale?
Preview July 6; early access by tier July 14 (Icon), July 15 (Ambassador), July 16 (Influencer); public July 18 through August 9. Only three early-access tiers this year, down from four. New in 2026: backorders and wish-listing of sold-out items. Discounts ran 20 to 55%.
Does Nordstrom Rack earn Nordy Club points?
Not anymore. Nordy Club stopped awarding points at Rack on June 3, 2025. The Amex Offer also excludes Rack. TopCashback has a separate Rack page; its rate didn't display when we checked.
What changed with the take-private?
The Nordstrom family and Mexico's Liverpool took the company private on May 20, 2025; Erik and Pete Nordstrom are co-CEOs. Nothing was announced about the card or loyalty program, but the Rakuten drop and the Rack points removal are the observable changes since.
