Retailer overview
Oura makes the smart ring that defined the category: sleep, readiness, heart rate, temperature, and (with the Ring 5) a thinner, lighter body. The current lineup as of September 2026 is the Ring 5, launched May 28, 2026, at $399 in Silver and Black and $499 in Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold, and Deep Rose (sizes 6 to 13), and the Ring 4 at $349 to $499 depending on finish (sizes 4 to 15). Both require a membership at $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with one free month included.
Oura sells direct, through Amazon and Best Buy, and through partner programs. Where you buy decides which savings you can use, and that is the whole page.
Why this is a fork, not a stack
Two facts that do not overlap:
- The Amex Platinum’s $200 Oura credit applies only to purchases at ouraring.com.
- ouraring.com is not a store on Rakuten or TopCashback. Rakuten’s Oura page routes to Best Buy (up to 10%), Etsy (1%, accessories), and gift cards (1%).
So the portal layer exists only where the card layer does not. If you see a “stack” that claims $200 plus 10% on the same order, it is wrong.
The Amex Platinum $200 Oura credit
The personal Amex Platinum (since the September 2025 refresh) reimburses up to $200 per calendar year on Oura ring purchases made at ouraring.com. The details that trip people up:
- Personal Platinum only. Business Platinum does not carry it. Schwab and Morgan Stanley variants are unverified; check your Benefits tab.
- Enrollment required. Enroll in the card’s Benefits section before buying, or the credit will not post.
- Rings only. Amex excludes memberships, chargers, add-ons, extended warranties, gift cards, and anything bought through a third party.
- Calendar year. Resets January 1. It does not split into halves.
- One credit per account. Authorized users do not get their own.
- Pay in full with the Platinum. Splitting with PayPal or a gift card breaks it.
Credits usually post within days and can take up to eight weeks.
Path A: ouraring.com direct (Platinum holders)
Layers available: the $200 credit, plus exactly one Oura discount. Oura’s policy is explicit: discounts cannot be combined, and only one applies per order, the largest.
- Referral: a friend’s code gives 10% off a Ring 4 or Ring 5 at the Oura store (ten uses per code). The referrer’s reward is not published.
- Preferred pricing: 10% off the Ring 4 for students, educators, and healthcare workers via ID.me; military via GovX. Through November 20, 2026, healthcare workers get 30% off the Ring 5, the largest code we have seen on the current ring.
- Site sales: when Oura runs a Ring 4 sale, it overrides codes if the sale is larger.
No portal. Do not click through Rakuten expecting cashback on ouraring.com; it will not track.
Path B: Best Buy through Rakuten (everyone else)

Best Buy occasionally has its own Amex or Chase Offers, and My Best Buy Plus members get extra perks, but neither is Oura-specific.
Best time of year to buy
The Ring 5 has not been discounted since launch and Oura has said it will not be beyond the 10% partner programs. Mother’s Day has not produced a verified Oura sale.
Worked example
Ring 5 Silver, $399, direct with the Platinum

A Ring 4 in a $244 window: about $44 on Path A, about $220 on Path B. The credit is worth roughly $200 more than the portal in every scenario.
Common exclusions and fine print
- HSA/FSA: the ring, membership, chargers, shipping, and tax are eligible; extended protection plans are not. Paying with an HSA card means no Amex credit. The cleanest path is to pay with the Platinum and reimburse yourself from the HSA.
- Returns: 30 days from delivery, one size exchange per item. Cancel the membership separately; returning the ring does not cancel it.
- Gift cards: Oura gift cards do not trigger the Amex credit, and buying them through Rakuten (1%) is not worth the tracking risk.
- Two Platinums: splitting one order across two cards does not double the credit.
Checkout sequence
- Decide your path. Personal Amex Platinum: Path A, direct. No Platinum: Path B, Best Buy through Rakuten, ideally during a Ring 4 sale.
- Path A: enroll the Oura credit in your Platinum's Benefits tab first. It is the step people skip.
- Get your size. Order the free sizing kit or use a previous ring's size; exchanges are limited to one.
- Path A: apply your single best discount (referral, preferred pricing, or a live sale), and pay the full amount with the Platinum on ouraring.com. Do not route through a portal.
- Path B: open a clean browser session, activate Rakuten, click through to Best Buy, and buy the ring there. No Oura codes apply.
- Path A: watch for the $200 statement credit over the next few weeks. Path B: confirm the Rakuten click within 48 hours.
Get alerted when the Ring 4 drops to $244 or Best Buy runs an Oura sale.
Oura discounts the Ring 4 about twice a year and Best Buy sometimes undercuts it. We email the day either happens, and before the Amex credit resets on January 1.
