Luxury Escapes sells prepaid packages at four- and five-star hotels with inclusions bundled in: breakfast, transfers, credits, sometimes a night free. For a US buyer there are two real discounts, a portal (TopCashback pays 4% on hotel packages for new customers) and a recurring Amex Offer at 8% back, and Rakuten's terms say you can't have both. So this is a choose-one page. The step that matters more than either layer is checking the package against booking the same hotel direct, because the inclusions can hide a rate above rack.

The 30-second answer

The best current Luxury Escapes stack (choose one)

Rates read from each portal's luxuryescapes.com store page. The most recent Amex Offer expired June 23, 2026; it has recurred roughly every six months.

  • Amex Offer (when live)

  • TopCashback (new customer)

$240 (Amex) or $120 (portal)
Portal and Amex Offer don't combine. Rakuten's terms exclude bookings that use an Amex offer or any promotional code. TopCashback's terms are less explicit but follow the same pattern. When the Amex Offer is live, it wins.

Retailer overview

Luxury Escapes is an Australian travel company that sells limited-time packages at upscale hotels and resorts, plus tours and cruises. The US storefront (luxuryescapes.com/us) prices in dollars, though some program pages still show Australian dollars. The pitch is a bundled rate: room plus breakfast plus transfers plus a credit, often with a “book five nights, pay four” structure.

For a stacker, Luxury Escapes is unusual in two ways. It’s on both US portals under its own domain, which most package sellers aren’t. And it has a recurring Amex Offer with an unusually high cap ($500 in the most recent round). It’s also unusual in that the two don’t combine, so the page is about picking the right one and, more importantly, about checking whether the package beats booking direct at all.

Cashback portal strategy

Portal Rate Notes
TopCashback (new customer) 4% hotels, cruises, experiences; 8% tours; 2% car hire USD site. New-customer rate applies to a first Luxury Escapes booking.
TopCashback (existing) 1% hotels; 2% tours; 5% on select “Never Ending Summer” packages Roughly a quarter of the new-customer rate.
Rakuten 2.5% No flights, no gift cards. Void if any promotional offer, discount, or Amex offer is used. Posts up to three months after travel.

Cashback posts after travel, not after booking, so a package for next spring pays next summer. Cancel the package and the cashback goes with it.

Credit card / Amex Offer strategy

Luxury Escapes has had a US Amex Offer three times since mid-2025:

  • 12% back, up to $350, through July 15, 2025
  • 8% back, up to $350, through November 4, 2025
  • 8% back, up to $500, through June 23, 2026

Terms have required booking direct on the US site in USD, and excluded Pay at Property bookings. Nothing is live as of mid-September 2026. No Chase Offer surfaced.

The Amex Offer is a statement credit, not a code, so on most retailers it would stack with a portal. Here it doesn’t, because Rakuten’s Luxury Escapes terms specifically exclude “American Express bookings.” Assume TopCashback’s affiliate terms are the same.

Pay with a card that has trip cancellation coverage. Most packages are nonrefundable after seven days.

Programs and codes

  • Referral: exists at luxuryescapes.com/us/refer. Minimum spend (roughly the equivalent of A$499), 12-month credit expiry, not valid on flights or insurance. Give and get amounts weren’t published for US users. Counts as a promotion; voids the portal.
  • Promo codes: small ones circulate ($10 off $200 in February 2026; occasional 10% and $25 codes). Any code voids the portal, and $25 is less than the portal on a $1,000 package. Ignore them.
  • LuxPlus+: membership priced in Australian dollars, with member-only pricing. Value for a US buyer unverified.
  • SociĂ©tĂ©: a points program exists; details unverified.
  • Best Price Guarantee: exists, but has been reported not to cover direct-hotel rates or many package types. Don’t rely on it.
  • Hotel loyalty: packages generally don’t earn hotel points or elite nights.

The price check

Before any of the above, price the same hotel, same dates, direct on the hotel’s site (or on marriott.com through a portal if it’s a Marriott property) and add up what the package’s inclusions are worth to you. Breakfast you’d skip is worth zero. A $100 resort credit at a hotel where you’d eat anyway is worth $100. Airport transfers you’d Uber are worth the Uber. If the package still wins after that, book it with the Amex Offer or the portal. If it doesn’t, the direct booking with hotel points and elite benefits is the better stack.

Common exclusions and gotchas

  • Portal cashback is void on any booking that uses an Amex offer, a promo code, a referral credit, or any other discount
  • Flights and gift cards earn no cashback on Rakuten
  • Cashback posts up to three months after travel; cancellations pay nothing
  • Seven-day change-of-mind window, then package terms (usually nonrefundable)
  • Packages generally don’t earn hotel loyalty points or elite nights
  • Some program pages price in Australian dollars; confirm the currency at checkout

Booking sequence

  1. Price the hotel direct for the same dates. Value the inclusions honestly. Decide whether the package wins.
  2. Check the Amex Offers tab. If a Luxury Escapes offer is live, add it to the card and book direct on luxuryescapes.com/us in USD with that card. Skip the portal. Stop here.
  3. No Amex Offer: clean browser session, ad blockers off. Activate TopCashback (first booking) or Rakuten (repeat) and click through.
  4. Don't enter a promo code or referral credit; either one voids the cashback.
  5. Pay with a card that has trip cancellation and interruption coverage.
  6. Cashback shows pending after booking and pays after you travel.
Worked example

$3,000 five-night hotel package

Path A: Amex Offer 8% (when live), no portal$240.00
Path B: TopCashback 4%, first booking, no code$120.00
Path B: TopCashback 1%, repeat customer$30.00
Best case$240 (8%) + card points

Either path adds about $60 in points on a 2x travel card. Neither comes close to the difference between a package priced above rack and one priced below it, which is why the price check comes first.

FAQ

Portal or Amex Offer?
The Amex Offer, when it's live. 8% up to $500 beats 4% (new customer) or 1% (existing) on any package, and Rakuten says the two can't be claimed together. Between Amex Offer windows, TopCashback is the layer.
Do I earn Marriott or Hyatt points on a Luxury Escapes stay?
Generally no. Packages are booked through Luxury Escapes as a third party, and hotel programs treat third-party bookings as ineligible for points and elite nights. You can add an airline frequent flyer number to flight components.
What's the refund policy?
A seven-day change-of-mind refund on most packages, excluding deposits and prepaid items. After that, the package's own terms apply, and most are nonrefundable. "Flexible" packages may require 22 or more days' notice to change dates.
Is the price actually lower than booking direct?
Sometimes. The inclusions (breakfast, transfers, resort credit) make a package look richer than the rate, and reviewers have found cases where the underlying room rate was above the hotel's direct price. Luxury Escapes has a Best Price Guarantee, but it's been reported not to cover direct-hotel prices or many package types. Price the same dates direct before you buy.
Does the referral program stack?
A refer-a-friend program exists at luxuryescapes.com/us/refer, with a minimum spend and a 12-month expiry on the credit, but the amounts aren't published for US users. Any referral credit counts as a promotional offer and voids Rakuten cashback.
Is LuxPlus+ worth it for a US buyer?
Unclear. The membership is priced in Australian dollars (A$249 a year, with a joining fee waived on a first booking) and the member pricing is designed around the Australian catalog. Unverified for USD buyers; skip it unless you book several packages a year.
